The new ‘Runway’ limited edition collection from Zinc features the beautiful work René Gruau, one of the world’s most revered fashion illustrators and is now available at Dickinsons. Gruau’s witty imagery, simple use of brush strokes and blocks of colour helped build many prestigious fashions brands, including The House of Dior, which still uses his images to this day.

‘Runway’ crosses boundaries between fashion and interiors like never before. Designs from his fashion archive are printed on silk so fluid, they could hang in the wardrobe as well as at the window. Oversized bouclé weaves hint at the legendary Chanel suit and semi opaque chiffons float, ghost like, as a veil.

Dickinsons marches on and into Carlisle

We are delighted to announce that we have added to our interiors store portfolio with the opening of a brand new store in Carlisle. We already run successful stores in Hexham and Alnwick plus a buoyant Contract Division and our new store is our largest outlet to date. This gives us coverage throughout the North, allowing us to provide more customers with our superb ranges of products and excellent customer service.

 
Our family-run interiors business, established in 1878 specialises in furniture, flooring and soft furnishings for individual clients as well as having a growing contract business within the commercial and new-build trade sectors.
 
In recent years, Dickinsons have won numerous awards including UK Independent Retailer of the Year, UK Flooring Fitter of the Year and UK Soft Furnishings Retailer of the Year award, plus we are members of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, an accolade which reflects Dickinsons skill and integrity within the retail sector.
 
“This is an extremely exciting opportunity to expand the company and is a natural step forward for us” says Tace Traviss, Commercial Director. “Whilst the trade sectors we operate in have been extremely challenging during the last few years, we have continued to grow and develop by winning market share from others. We have developed a unique product offer and we have a genuine point of difference from the multiple operators through our one-stop shop concept which is showcased in the largest interior design studios in the North of England. The business now boasts a range of over 25,000 designer fabrics and currently has nine interior designers employed to offer clients a full interiors service. In addition we have a large, inspirational range of top quality furniture and flooring, being members of the Minerva Furnishers Guild, and being Carpet Foundation Registered Specialists operating under OFT guidelines”
 
The new store in Carlisle creates around 20 new jobs and will take our turnover to more than £7 million and our workforce to over 60 people.
